Bespoke Claude Chaumard Grey & Blue POW Jacket - 42/52L
Bespoke Claude Chaumard Grey & Blue POW Jacket - 42/52L

Description

Claude Chaumard was a Parisian bespoke tailor from the 1960’s to the 1990’s. Located at 7 Rue d’Artois in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, close to the Champs Elysées and the Boulevard Haussmann, his clientele was made of business tycoons, politicians and influential men who valued discretion and efficiency over glitz and glamour. His style and quality were comparable to the old school of Parisian tailoring, inspired more by Savile Row than the contemporary style of Joseph Camps or Francesco Smalto. The shoulders were structured, the chest fuller with a tight waist and classic fabric from English mills. Claude Chaumard was very similar to the bespoke operation of Lanvin, as well as old tailors like Opelka, Larsen or Cumberland. During the 1970’s, thanks to his success, Claude Chaumard acquired other bespoke tailors like Antoine Schleret. Claude Chaumard was renowned for the cut of his double-breasted suits, with strong shoulders and straight cut. He could also propose during the 1970’s and 1980’s very luxurious fur lining for his coats, including mink and sable. His starting price for a suit was 8000 francs (roughly 4000 euros today). One of his biggest clients was businessman and politician André Bettencourt. André Bettencourt was a Minister from 1966 and 1973 and was also husband of Liliane Bettencourt, heiress of the largest cosmetics group in the world L’Oréal. I propose a classic example of his work: a 1989 grey and blue jacket with a nice prince of wales pattern in a sturdy virgin wool. This jacket is excellent for the week-end, from autumn to spring, with a variety of trousers (wool, flannel, cotton, cashmere, or corduroy). As always with Claude Chaumard, it is fully handmade, from the lining to the buttonholes, from the shoulder to the collar. It features its cigarette shoulder, monogramed lining with a classic Parisian cut. The condition is excellent. The jacket is best fitted for a 42UK/52FR size, around 1m80 tall. Here are the measurements Shoulders: 47cm Sleeve length: 65cm (with 5,5cm of fabric to let out) Chest: 55cm Waist at button: 52cm Jacket length: 82cm (collar included, with (4,5cm of fabric to let out) Lapels: 8cm Quality similar to the following bespoke houses: - In France: Camps de Luca, Cifonelli, Claude Rousseau, Francesco Smalto, Max Evzeline, Arnys, Lanvin Mesure, Henri Urban, Opelka, Kenjiro Suzuki - In Italy: Caraceni (Augusto or Domenico), Rubinacci, Dalcuore, Panico, Ambrosi, Rota - In England: Anderson & Sheppard, Henry Poole, Huntsman & Sons, Nutters of Savile Row, Chittleborough & Morgan, Richard Anderson, Meyer & Mortimer Possibly to try it in Paris 15th Arrondissement.
