Description
Gabriel Gonzalez is one of the few bespoke tailors who worked for Joseph Camps (Camps de Luca). Along with Francesco Smalto, Claude Rousseau, and Henri Urban, Gabriel Gonzalez is a master tailor known for the quality of his craft. He began working for Joseph Camps in 1961, at age 23, after being an apprentice in Angoulême for three years. Trained by Claude Rousseau and Henri Urban, Gabriel Gonzalez is a pure product of Parisian tailoring tradition. The cut is precise, the attention to details is unmatched, and everything is done by hand. You have the classic Parisian lapel designed by Joseph Camps, a perfectly executed cigarette shoulder, luxurious fabric, and everything you might expect from Parisian bespoke tailoring. Gabriel Gonzalez opened his own atelier in the late 1960's. There, he created many suits, sportcoats and coats for captain of industries (Bolloré, Boucheron, Bich, Bouygues), authors (Jean-François Revel), and other celebrities, for more than 40 years. It was said that, before his atelier was bought by Cifonelli in the late-2000's, Mr. Gonzalez never included a label in the garment he made, preferring to let it speaks for itself (only the initials and the date of fabrication were mentioned inside the pockets). These days, Gabriel Gonzalez is still working and training new recruits for Camps de Luca, well into his 80's. I propose a beautiful bespoke Gabriel Gonzalez green wool-cashmere Loden Coat. Made in the 2005, it is a very classic coat, perfect for the cold months. The cut is deliberately loose with its raglan shoulder, hidden gorge, lack of structure around the waist. Like a loden coat, it is made to be worn with a sportcoat or heavy knitwear, and will envelop you like a cape. The condition is excellent, aside from some minor tear in the lining. As always with Gabriel Gonzalez, it is fully handmade, from the lining to the buttonholes, from the shoulder to the collar. The coat is best fitted for someone with a slim 40UK/50FR or a strong 38UK/48FR size, around 1m75 tall. Here are the measurements: Shoulders: 45,5cm Sleeve length: 61cm (with 5,5cm of fabric to let out) Chest: 57cm Waist at button: 59cm Coat length: 112cm (collar included, with 5cm of fabric to let out) Lapels: 8cm Quality similar to the following bespoke houses: - In France: Camps de Luca, Cifonelli, Francesco Smalto, Claude Rousseau, Arnys, Lanvin Mesure, Henri Urban, Max Evzeline, Opelka, Kenjiro Suzuki - In Italy: Caraceni (Augusto or Domenico), Rubinacci, Dalcuore, Panico - In England: Anderson & Sheppard, Henry Poole, Huntsman & Sons, Nutters of Savile Row, Chittleborough & Morgan, Richard Anderson, Meyer & Mortimer
