Description
Emilio De Luca is a Neapolitan sartoria founded in the 1940’s. Emilio was born in Casalnuovo, a few kilometers away from Naples. Casalnuovo is known as the city of fashion, due to its textile tradition. Many tailors and high-end suitmakers came from Casalnuovo, such as Cesare Attolini, Antonio Panico (one of the most talented cutters of his generation, especially during his years at Rubinacci), Pirozzi, Caliendo, Sabino, and Isaia. De Luca’s style is typically Neapolitan. The shoulder is unstructured (the famous "spalla camicia" or shirt jacket), the construction is feather-light, the lapels are wide, and the breast pocket features the characteristic barchetta (a breast pocket in the shape of a small boat), a staple of Naples tailoring tradition. This sartoria uses only the best fabric, with a liking for Loro Piana and Holland & Sherry. Holland & Sherry is known worldwide since 1836 for the quality of its luxurious fabrics, especially its cashmere. I propose an incredible example of his work: a stunning double-breasted jacket in a beautiful brick red Holland & Sherry pure cashmere. It is very dense and soft to the touch. Warm without being heavy, it is the perfect balance between comfort and elegance. Made in the 2010's, this jacket is perfect from autumn to spring and is a superb statement piece that can be worn with a variety of trousers (wool, flannel, cotton, cashmere) and of colours (white, blue, grey, beige, etc.). As always with Emilio De Luca, it is fully handmade, from the lining to the buttonholes, from the shoulder to the collar. It features everything you want from a Neapolitan tailor: spalla camicia, light construction with half-lining, wide lapels, barchetta. The conditions is like new. The jacket is best fitted for someone with a 38UK/48FR size, around 1m75. Here are the measurements Shoulders: 44cm Sleeve length: 60,5cm (with 5,5cm of fabric to let out) Chest: 49cm Waist at button: 50cm Jacket length: 78cm (collar included, with 4,5cm of fabric to let out) Lapels: 11cm Quality similar to the following bespoke houses: - In France: Camps de Luca, Cifonelli, Claude Rousseau, Francesco Smalto, Arnys, Lanvin Mesure, Henri Urban, Max Evzeline, Opelka, Kenjiro Suzuki - In Italy: Caraceni (Augusto or Domenico), Rubinacci, Dalcuore, Panico - In England: Anderson & Sheppard, Henry Poole, Huntsman & Sons, Nutters of Savile Row, Chittleborough & Morgan, Richard Anderson, Meyer & Mortimer
