RTW Melinda Gloss / Editions MR Blue Linen Jacket - 34/44R

Description

Melinda Gloss was a french ready-to-wear brand created in 2006 by Rémi de Laquintane and Mathieu de Ménonville. They were one of the first brand who wanted to steer away from fast-fashion or logo heavy luxury brands, focusing on the quality of the fabric, construction (mostly half-canvassed), and a modern but classical aesthetic, without the heavy price attached to it. All their jackets were made in Limoges, France, while their knitwear and other garments were made in Portugal and Italy. Their use of original colours, fabrics, and a casual approach to menswear made them stand appart from the other new brands of the 2000's. It was the beginning of middle-luxury: good quality with a very interesting price point, with shirts around 120 euros and jackets and coats around 600-700 euros. During their first four years, their collections were only available in their own apartment. By word-of-mouth, their reputation grew in Paris fashion circles, and they opened their first boutique Rue de Saintonge in the Marais district. A second one would follow in 2012 on the Left Bank. With their boutiques, they struck immense success around the world, especially in Japan and the United States. Several corner shops were created in high-end department stores, and they even participated in the Paris fashion week. In 2014, Melinda Gloss became Editions MR, as an homage to literary work and their vision of curating and choosing garments according to their respective taste. The brand became bigger with several boutiques in Paris and in many french cities and around the world. Their collections were more diverse, centered around different themes: hotel life, riviera, countryside, etc. However by 2017, fashion had evolved as well as customers expectations in terms of style. The founders decided to sell their share and to go on other projects. By 2020, the closure of their boutiques due to the pandemic, and the different costs due to the situation, forced Editions MR to be closed definitely in 2021. A chapter in fashion history was therefore finished. New brands took their place but some still remember what they brought and created for menswear. I'm proposing a great example of their early ready-to-wear: a 2012 summer jacket in pure linen, with a texture similar to chambray. Made for their spring-summer collection and distributed in their boutique Rue de Saintonge, this half-lined jacket is an excellent choice for the season, for sartorial newcomers or people who are not interested in the wide-lapel, pleated-pants, neapolitan style. It can be worn with almost all your trousers in light fabric (cotton, linen, seersucker, denim, etc.) As always with Melinda Gloss, the fabric is of great quality, with nice details such as wooden buttons, light weight, and a simple yet very flattering cut. The sleeve buttons are purely decorative, making it easier to alter the length of the sleeves. The conditions is excellent. Tagged 44FR, it is best fitted for someone with a size 34UK/44FR, around 1m75 tall. Here are the measurements: Shoulders: 40,5cm Sleeve length: 61cm (with 4cm of fabric to let out) Chest: 43,5cm Waist at button: 41cm Jacket length: 71cm (collar included, with 2cm of fabric to let out) Lapels: 5,5cm Quality equivalent to the following brands: AMI Paris, Officine Générale, De Bonne Facture, Stoffà, Informale, Barena Venezia, ABCL Garments, Camoshita, L'Exception, Ly Adams, Bonne Gueule, Suitsupply, Octobre Editions Possible to try it in Paris 15th Arrondissement.
