Description
Massaro is one of the best bespoke shoemakers in the world, both for men and women. Founded in 1894 at 2 Rue de la Paix, near Opera Garnier and Place Vendôme in Paris, "Maison Massaro" has created iconic models that combine grace with durability. First renowned for their bespoke shoes for women with clients such as Marlene Dietrich and Wallis Simpson (the spouse of Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor), Massaro continues the tradition of beautiful shoes for all the "haute couture" houses in France and the world (Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Karl Lagerfeld, Thierry Mugler, Azzedine Alaïa, Christian Lacroix). It is now owned by Chanel, and like John Lobb with Hermes, the quality hasn't changed. In the men's bespoke world, Massaro has also trained countless shoemakers like Philippe Atienza (compagnon du devoir, previously director of John Lobb Paris Bespoke atelier, later director of Massaro Bespoke atelier, and now owner of his own bespoke shop in Paris). Raymond Massaro became a Maître d'Art and Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1994 and 1999 respectively for his work as a shoemaker. The shoes I'm proposing is a beautiful bespoke loafer in the typical style of Massaro. A two-tone (beige/cream and brown) loafer in a very supple kidskin from the 1970's. Kidskin (a leather made from young goats) is perfect for spring or summer, with a fresco or linen suit (in shades of grey, tan, or blue), or with a pair of chinos or blue jeans. The pair is new (never worn outside). As always with Massaro, everything is done by hand, from the welting to the stitching of the upper. It is very rare to find such model in perfect condition. The size is similar to a 6,5UK/40,5EU. Check the measurements below to be sure it fits you: - Length of the left shoe: 27,6cm - Length of the right shoe: 27,4cm - Width of the left shoe: 8,5cm - Width of the right shoe: 8,6cm The quality is equivalent to the following bespoke houses: - In England: John Lobb Ltd Bootmaker, Nikolaus Tuczek, George Cleverley, Dominic Casey, Foster & Son, Gaziano & Girling, Henri Maxwell - In Italy: Stefano Bemer, Freccia Bestetti, Gatto, Marini, Pettrocchi, Beppino Rampin, Roberto Ugolini, - In France: Aubercy Bespoke, Berluti Bespoke, Corthay Bespoke, John Lobb Paris Bespoke, Philippe Atienza, Stephane Jimenez - In Japan: Yohei Fukuda, Eiji Murata, Tye Shoemaker Possible to try it in Paris 15th Arrondissement.
