Old England was, like Le Bon Marché, one of the most luxurious department stores in Paris from 1867 to 2012. Known for the quality of their products, from beautiful suits by the English Chester Barrie and the Neapolitan Sartoria Partenopea, to cashmere's rollneck/turtleneck by Pringle's of Scotland and Ballantyne, Old England was a temple of craftsmanship in France. Some considered Old England to be the Arnys of the right bank, since both were known for their reverence for english made products. The shirt I'm proposing is a classic white poplin with a french collar and french cuffs made by Chester Barrie for Old England. Chester Barrie was known for the quality of their suits and shirts from the 1950's to the 1990's. They were the first to manufacture handmade suits, with a classic english cut inspired by Savile Row, and rivalling Kiton, Brioni, and Attolini in terms of quality. Old England was one of many distributor of Chester Barrie suits and shirts, either under the Old England label or Chester Barrie label. The shirt will go with almost garment you have, from business suits to blazers and odd trousers, to even chinos or jeans. The collar size is 39cm (15,5 inches).
